Pícaro is a high-performance rocket designed by the STAR association for EuRoC competitions, showcasing a composite fuselage, advanced avionics, air brakes, and a cubesat-format payload with a Return To Launch (RTL) system. Designed for a flight ceiling of 3 km, it reflects the team's dedication to innovation in rocketry.
This year, we participated with Pícaro, our latest iteration. During its nominal ascent, Pícaro reached 1386 km/h (385 m/s), achieving supersonic speed despite not being designed for it. Apogee was detected at 3183 m, initiating the descent phase with parachutes. Although the payload was lost due to adverse weather, the rocket was partially recovered.
