Demo-L1 Azor

The Azor rocket is a high-performance Level 1 certification rocket built using the IRIS LOC kit. It features a phenolic cardboard fuselage, combining durability and lightweight construction. With a diameter of 5.74 cm and a length of 110 cm, Azor is compact yet capable of impressive performance. The rocket weighs 587 g without the motor and 789 g when fully loaded.

For propulsion, Azor uses a Cesaroni Pro29 H163 White Thunder motor, a reliable and powerful reloadable kit. This motor consists of three grains and utilizes a propellant mixture of ammonium perchlorate and black powder, ensuring a high-thrust flight profile.
Simulations for Azor predicted an apogee of 769 m and a maximum velocity of Mach 0.57. These results highlight its efficiency and the precision of its design. Notably, this flight did not include avionics, making it a straightforward but significant milestone in its development and testing.

Azor is part of the STAR team’s certification campaign, which aims to enable members to achieve Level 1 certification and gain valuable hands-on experience in rocket design, construction, and flight. Its successful launch represents a key step in the team’s journey toward mastering advanced rocketry techniques and empowering its members with essential skills for future projects.

The launch took place in Fuentelahiguera de Albatages, near Guadalajara, in collaboration with TRIPOLI Spain.
